1. Installation Guide

Indoor Use Instructions
Read the instructions thoroughly before installing. Choose a location where the air circulates freely and where insects are likely to be. Air changes, building layout, temperature and humidity may affect units efficiency.

• Turn off dispenser by depressing the on/off button until it releases
• Shake can and screw clockwise into dispenser, finger tight only. Do not over tighten
• Insert the can inside the plastic decorative holder and place it on a horizontal surface or hang it on the wall at around 2 metres above the floor and at least 30cm below the ceiling.
• To activate, point dispenser and can away from you and push the on/off button on top of the dispenser cap several times, until a puff of spray appears each time. Now hold the button down until it stays down. Your Raid® AutoMatic Insect Control System now operates automatically.
• To turn off, simply push dispenser on/off button until it releases.
• Warning: Low battery may reduce the effectiveness of dispersion.

2. What is the Raid® Automatic Insect Control System?
The Raid® Automatic Insect Control System is an automated insect control system that has been designed for continuous 24 hour protection against flying and crawling insects.

3. How does the Raid® Automatic Insect Control System work and how does it differ from other sprays?
The Raid® Automatic Insect Control System includes a unique automatic dispenser that uses advanced Micromist technology™ which creates a mist of incredibly fine micro particles to control insects. Because it’s a mist which stays in the air longer, not a spray, it’s more easily spread throughout your whole room. Ordinary insect sprays however, release heavier particles that fall to the ground more quickly, making them less effective at whole room coverage than the Raid® Automatic Insect Control System.

4. Is it effective?
Because it’s a mist which stays in the air longer, not a spray, it’s more easily spread throughout your whole room for better coverage, making it more effective than an ordinary insect spray. All formulas are effective against flying and crawling insects (flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, and ants).

5. What types of insects does the Raid® Automatic Insect Control System control?
The Raid® Automatic Insect Control System is effective against flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, spiders and ants.

6. How long does it take to work?
Within days you will notice the absence of insects. Some insects may take longer depending upon particular environment conditions.

7. How long does a refill can last?
Each refill can life span depends upon the dispenser setting used.
The following is a guide for 185g and 305g refill cans:

185g Refill Can

305g Refill Can

7 minute dispenser setting

8. Where can I use the Raid® Automatic Insect Control System and where should I place it?
Raid® Automatic Insect Control Systems can be used in homes, offices, shops, restaurants, commercial areas away from food preparation and eating areas as well as outdoors (outdoor dispenser only).

Indoor Usage
The Raid® Automatic Insect Control System can be placed anywhere within the home or work environment, however please refer to usage instructions on pack. It is recommended to place the unit in the room where insects are prevalent and not be used in food preparation and eating areas. Placement should be approximately 2 metres above the floor and at least 30cm below the ceiling.

Outdoor Usage
The outdoor unit is ideal for use around patios, gazebos, decks, on picnics and general outdoor entertainment areas. The outdoor unit should be placed at ground level up wind and clear of naked flames and away from food preparation and eating areas. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use near naked flames.

9. How easy is it to use?
It is very easy to use because of its set and forget operation. Just follow the instructions and place the indoor unit on a shelf or wall.
• The automatic indoor dispenser will operate for 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
• The outdoor unit will also operate automatically, dispersing every 20 seconds with a 3 hour automated cut off feature. Place the outdoor unit at ground level up wind and clear of naked flames.

13. How much is sprayed into the air?
The amount of mist released into the air varies with the different dispenser frequencies. A typical indoor Raid® unit will release the same quantity of ingredients into the air in 24 hours as that released by a normal aerosol spray in 5 seconds!

14. Is it environmentally friendly?
The product is formulated with natural pyrethrins, extracted from chrysanthemum daisies.

15. What are natural Pyrethrins?
Pyrethrins are nature’s own protection against insects, extracted from chrysanthemum daisies. Even small amounts of pyrethrin are enough to kill most common insects.

16. Can I use the Raid® Automatic Refill cans with any Raid® Automatic Insect Control Dispenser?
All Raid® Automatic Refill Cans are INTERCHANGEABLE and can be used with any Raid® Automatic Insect Control System.
Raid® Automatic Refill Cans also fit Robocan® dispensers. Other RAID® aerosol products should not be used in the RAID® Automatic Insect Control Dispenser.

17. How long does the battery last?
Normally 6 – 12 months. A lithium battery will last longer. We recommend that you change the battery every year.

18. How do I dispose of the refill can once it is finished?
Recycle empty cans if a facility is available or place used can in household rubbish.

19. Is it safe to use?
The active ingredients contained in Raid Automatic Systems are natural pyrethrins, piperonyl butoxide (insecticide synergist) or pyrethroids (indoor/outdoor refill). Pyrethrins are extracted from chrysanthemum daises and are nature’s own protection against insects with a unique potency that repels/kills insects. Pyrethroids are synthetic insecticides based on Pyrethrins

The Raid Automatic releases only a tiny amount of insecticide, in fact the same amount is released by the Raid Automatic over 24 hours that a normal spray can would release in just 5 seconds!

SC Johnson takes very seriously the responsibility of providing products that families can use with confidence, including our pest control products.

All of our products go through an extensive risk assessment, which takes into account many factors such as toxicity, the amount of each of the ingredients, consumer habits and practices that affect exposure, time spent using the product and activity patterns at the home. We also consider possible effects on children and pets.

SC Johnson products also undergo strict evaluation and meet or exceed APVMA and ERMA standards.

Raid® Automatic products may be used with a high degree of confidence when label instructions are followed.

20. Is Raid Automatic safe to use by people with allergies or asthma?
Allergy sensitivity is not very likely; however, some individuals may be sensitive to the formulations used. In addition some individuals with asthma are very sensitive to aerosol products in general. The amount of natural pyrethrins released into the air is minimal, in fact it is measured in parts per trillion. Pyrethrins may be used with confidence when label instructions are followed. Please refer to usage instructions provided on each pack. However we recommend that if you are prone to allergies that you consult your doctor before use.

21. What size area does the Raid® Automatic System cover?
The Raid® Automatic will cover 1 large size room, however if you have a larger size house e.g. two levels, we recommend that you use two units (one on each level).

22. Is the product safe in direct sunlight?
Yes it is

23. Can the battery be replaced even though the can is not finished?
Yes, simply unscrew the dispenser and replace the battery and then follow the usage instructions on the can to re-assemble.

24. I have been using the Raid® Automatic System for a while but I am still noticing insects. What can I do to prevent this?
The Raid® Automatic is designed to create a zone you can enjoy without the constant nuisance or worry caused by insects; however if you are still finding insects in the house with the Raid® Automatic System fully running, then check the following:

• Is the product switched on (front button down)
• Is the can empty?
• Is the battery new? (flat batteries will affect performance)
• Is it releasing a puff of spray every 5 or 7 minutes? (if not the battery may not be functioning properly)
• Is it left on for 24 hours a day? (it is only effective if it is in constant use)
• Have you positioned the unit in a room with open doors or windows? (if so it may be too close to an opening and the active ingredient may be escaping outside before it is dispersed throughout the room)

25. Is the product safe to use around fish tanks?
You will need to remove fish tanks from the area as the active ingredients may be harmful to fish and aquatic life.

26. Do we need to change our pet’s water if we are using the Raid® Automatic Outdoor System?
The outdoor unit is usually operated at ground level and releases a mist upwards into the air. As long as the unit is not positioned right beside your pet’s water bowl, you will not need to change the water as minimal product will actually land on the ground as a very fine mist will be released upward into the air and travel with the air flow or simply dissipate.

27. Can I use the Raid® Automatic Insect Control System while I am pregnant?
Raid® Automatic Insect Control System has been evaluated considering pregnancy and can be used with confidence; however some individuals may be sensitive to the formulations used. The amount of natural pyrethrins released into the air is minimal, in fact it is measured in parts per trillion. Pyrethrins have been used for many years. Please refer to usage instructions provided on each pack. However we recommend that you consult your doctor before use.

28. Does the spray leave residue or damage timber furniture or floors?
We recommend that the unit is wall mounted rather than left on any timber surface.

29. What does the green flashing light mean on the 5/7 minute dispenser cap?
The green flashing light simply indicates that the unit is switched on and is working. The light will start to flash red once your can is finished as a reminder for you to replace your refill can.

30. Where is the best spot to place the unit for optimum results?
The best place to set up your Raid® Automatic Insect Control System for optimum results is in a central room, usually the family room or where people congregate most often.

31. Is it possible to use the indoor unit on a sheltered outdoor porch?
If the area is fully enclosed, then the unit will work effectively. However if the area is open, then the air circulation will affect the indoor unit’s effectiveness. It is recommended for open areas that you use the outdoor unit, which disperses the mist every 20 seconds, ideal for outdoor weather conditions.

32. What do I do if my dispenser is not working?
There may be a build up of the formula that is prohibiting the dispenser cap from releasing the spray. Simply tap the unit gently on a hard surface to release the build up.
